Hi,

I have my system set up with a server running on my home LAN. It's connected through my router with port forwarding enabled for port 1701. I'm able to connect to it using an openl2tp client from my linux laptop. I'm able to ssh into my server using the private address being provided by the openl2tp server. So, that's some level of success!

However, I know this must be a really simple thing, but I can't figure out how to access other computers on my home network. That is, I want the openl2tp server to enable access for me, similar to how I access my work on my work laptop.

What do I need to do to allow my remote openl2tp client to appear on my local LAN as if I were in my home?

Thanks!
Mike

Enable IPv4 forwarding on your server. It is usually disabled by default. Then make sure your routes are setup correctly (and your IP subnets are suitably configured). Perhaps your router has features that might be useful too - RIP etc. Maybe use proxy ARP. It depends on the features available in your Broadband router really.

Setting up IP networks is a wide topic. You might find better resources in other places. Glad your L2TP setup is working though. :-)
