I've been playing with disabling RPC support in openl2tp ( L2TP_FEATURE_RPC_MANAGEMENT= n ), only to find that my connections always are dropped after 120 seconds.

Then I found this message:
http://www.openl2tp.org/pipermail/openl ... 00157.html

pointing to the following code in ./plugins/ppp_unix.c
Code:
#ifdef L2TP_FEATURE_RPC_MANAGEMENT
                /* This plugin requires pppol2tp.so to be loaded first */
                argv[arg++] = "plugin";
                argv[arg++] = "openl2tp.so";
#endif

I removed the ifdef, and now everything seemingly works fine without RPC! Why is this ifdef still there?

You're right, the ifdef shouldn't be there any more. The plugin used to use RPC, but we changed that ages ago. Ooops.
